Description

Dermcare Pyohex Medicated Shampoo is an effective treatment for skin (Staphylococcus) infections in dogs. It alsopreventsthe recurrence of superficial dermatitis associated with theseinfections.

Signs your dog has a bacterial skin infection:

  • Pimples
  • Circular rings of scale or redness (as larger pimples pop and leave ‰Û÷rings' of skin damage)
  • Moist areas of skin commonly referred to as hotspots

The Chlorhexidine in Pyohex Shampoo works by binding to hair to eliminate bacteria in situ. Chlorhexidine kills bacteria by disrupting the cell membrane and precipitating the cell contents. Pyohex Shampoo binds strongly to the skin and hair, resulting in up to 14 days residual action. As Chlorhexidine is poorly absorbed through the skin, Pyohex Shampoo is completely safe when used as directed.

Dermcare Pyohex Medicated Shampooisdesigned to be used in conjunction with Dermcare Pyohex Medicated Conditioner or other appropriate product, as recommended by your Veterinarian.

Ingredients

Active Ingredient:
3% Chlorhexidine Gluconate
A proven antibacterial with activity against gram positive bacteria eg. Staphylococcus intermedius and gram negative bacteria

Ensure your dog is thoroughly wet before applying Pyohex Medicated Shampoo as this will make lathering and spreading it easier.
Use a wet sponge to help to ensure the coat is wet and the Pyohex Medicated Shampoo lathers and spreads well.
Allow the full 10 minutes contact time for the Pyohex Medicated Shampoo as this will allow optimal efficacy.

During periods of active infection the shampoo and conditioner should be used twice per week.
Once the infection has resolved, bathing once per week or fortnight is often enough to prevent recurrences.

The time of year may influence the frequency of bathing - during spring and summer, dogs who suffer bad allergies may find they require more frequent bathing then they do in winter when their allergies are not as active.
